Dylan Carey went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a pair of RBI in Nebraska’s 6-3 win at Creighton on Tuesday night at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.

Nebraska (17-20) scored six runs on 12 hits, while Creighton (20-12) totaled three runs, seven hits and two errors.

Case Sanderson was 2-for-5 with a triple and a run scored, while Joshua Overbeek drove in a run on a 2-for-5 night. Robby Bolin and Hogan Helligso recorded a double, while Tyler Stone, Max Buettenback and Cayden Brumbaugh had one hit apiece.

Ryan Harrahill surrendered a pair of runs on two hits in one inning of work. Gavin Blachowicz tossed a pair of scoreless frames, while Pryce Bender moved to 2-0 on the season after working a season-high 2.2 innings. The freshman allowed one run on two hits and struck out three with one walk.

Grant Cleavinger and Casey Daiss teamed up to throw 1.1 scoreless innings, followed by Luke Broderick dealing scoreless eighth and ninth innings to pick up his eighth save of the year.

Creighton jumped out to a two-run lead behind a pair of hits in the bottom of the first. A leadoff double down the left-field line and a plunked batter put runners on first and second with no outs.

An RBI single through the right side broke the scoreless tie, while a sacrifice fly lifted to deep center field tacked on another run to make it a 2-0 game through the first.

The Huskers answered with a run on two hits to cut the deficit in half in the top of the second. Carey’s one-out single to center, and a full-count walk to Cael Frost had runners on first and second, before Overbeek’s RBI single to center plated Carey from second base to trim the CU lead to 2-1 through two innings.

Nebraska added another run in the top of the third to tie the game back up at two apiece. The Huskers had runners on first and second with one out after Buettenback singled to left field, followed by a full-count walk to Stone. Carey smacked a 1-0 pitch for an RBI double down the right-field line to score Buettenback and even the game at two.

Creighton took the lead back at 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out solo home run down the right-field line.

The Huskers responded immediately with a run of their own in the top of the fifth to tie the game back up at three. Stone’s leadoff single down the left-field line, and Carey plunked on a 1-1 pitch had runners on first and second with no outs for the NU offense. Frost reached on a throwing error, allowing Stone to score all the way from second to lock the game at three with four innings to play.

Nebraska added a pair of runs with two hits in the top of the sixth to grab a 5-3 lead over the Bluejays. Sanderson began the inning with a triple off the center-field wall and trotted home on an RBI single off the bat of Brumbaugh. Buettenback drew a walk, while a groundout to first by Stone moved Brumbaugh and Buettenback to second and third with one out.

Carey lifted a 1-2 pitch to center field for his team-leading sixth sacrifice fly of the season, scoring Brumbaugh from third and doubling the lead to 5-3.

The NU offense added an insurance run in the top of the eighth with back-to-back two-out doubles off the bats of Carey and Bolin.

Creighton threatened in the bottom of the eighth, bringing the tying run to the plate with one out after a pair of singles. Broderick eluded any damage, inducing an inning-ending, 4-6-3 double play to send a 6-3 lead into the ninth inning.

Nebraska welcomes Northwestern to Lincoln for a three-game series this weekend at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park. First pitch between the Huskers and Wildcats in the series opener on Friday night is set for 6:02 p.m. on B1G+.

Carey, Huskers tame Bluejays on Tuesday

Hastings, Neb.&nbsp; – The Knights opened their road trip by splitting games with Hastings College JV on Tuesday.

An RBI double by Heaven Hutchison scored the opening run in the top of the first inning to kick start an action-packed game one. Hastings capitalized in the bottom half of the frame with two runs, but eight runs over the next two innings pushed the Knights comfortably out front.

Hastings added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but North Platte countered with two runs in the top of the seventh to stretch their lead to 11-3. Down to their final three outs, the Broncos managed to push three runners across the plate, but the Knights held on to claim the win.

Sarah Perez got the start in the circle and pitched 6.2 innings. She allowed six runs on seven hits and struck out three, while Alieze Moreno came on in relief and allowed no runs on no hits.

Hastings grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double by Gracey Graf. The Broncos stretched their lead while adding three runs in the third and fifth innings. North Platte was held to just four hits in the final four innings as the Broncos earned the split.

Moreno took the loss for the Knights while allowing four runs on four hits in 2.2 innings. Victoria Arellano pitched the final 3.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits, striking out one and walking two.

Knights (5-21) will continue their road trip as they head to Sterling, Colo. for a doubleheader with Northeastern Junior College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.

CHADRON, Neb. – Lauren Zimmerman finished with an RBI in each game to become Chadron State's all-time program RBI leader as Chadron State took three of four games in the series against Fort Lewis, splitting the two games on the day with an 8-1 victory followed by a 10-2 loss. 

Tori Haug continued her impressive pitching on the weekend, allowing one run on five hits in seven innings for her second victory of the series after a five-inning shutout the day before. Aside from Zimmerman, Ashland Baca and J'lyssa Martinez also drove in two runs apiece on the day. 

Chadron State's record now sits at 17-25 overall with a 13-23 record in the RMAC. Fort Lewis sits at 9-31 overall and 8-27 in the RMAC after Sunday's split. 

The Eagles continued their momentum from a dominant Saturday that saw CSC outscore Fort Lewis 10-0 over the first doubleheader of the series. Chadron State exploded for a five-run second inning that set the home team on its way to win its third straight in game one of Sunday's action. 

Freshman Skyhawk starter Addison Gavigan lost the strike zone, with four walks to Brogan Allen, Sophia Brennan, Angelina Quezada and Elizabeth Thorngren plus a wild pitch putting the Eagles on the board. Gavigan recovered with a strikeout and a sacrifice fly from Jazlyn Arvizo, which made it 2-0 CSC but also put a second out on the board. 

Then, it was Zimmerman's moment. The senior third baseman doubled to the left-center field gap, scoring Quezada standing up. It was Zimmerman's eighth double and 39th RBI of the season, and it gave her 140 RBI for her career, passing alum Allison Hendricksen for first on CSC's all-time lists. 

Ashland Baca continued the inning with another double to straightaway center that just missed going over the fence, scoring Thorngren and Zimmerman to run CSC's lead up to 5-0. 

Fort Lewis got on the board in the fourth on back-to-back doubles, but Haug recovered to end the inning with the help of a line-drive double-play from third baseman Zimmerman to second baseman Arvizo. 

The Eagles answered in the bottom of the frame with a two-out rally, as Arivzo singled before Zimmerman and Baca walked to load the bases and J'lyssa Martinez came through with an opposite-field double down the left field line to score two runs and make it 7-1. Kenzi Garner, pinch-hitting at the plate before her game two start in the circle, went yard to left center for her second home run of the year to cap the CSC scoring. 

For as many things went right for the Eagles in the first three games of the series, everything seemed to unravel in game four. Garner allowed five runs on six hits in three-plus innings, Chadron State made five errors defensively and Fort Lewis hit three home runs in the fourth and fifth innings to end the series finale by run rule in the minimum five innings. 

Zimmerman added to her RBI total by scoring Arvizo, who had doubled to lead off the bottom of the first, with a one-out single. Zimmerman's program-record career RBI total now sits at 141 and counting. The Eagles got their other run on the day on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Elizabeth Thorngren. 

Chadron State now hits the road to face Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction next Friday and Saturday. The Mavericks (31-11, 29-7 RMAC) are in the RMAC title hunt and lead by half a game over MSU Denver and a full game over Colorado Christian, who CMU just split a four-game series with. First pitch Friday is set for 12 p.m.

Zimmerman sets CSC softball RBI record as Eagles take three games from Fort Lewis

CHADRON, Neb. – The 2025 Eagle Athletic Auction fundraiser and 2025 Don Beebe Golf Classic will officially take place this Memorial Day weekend from Friday, May 23 through Sunday, May 25. 

The weekend serves as an opportunity for Chadron alumni, supporters and community members to hear from CSC coaches, student-athletes and athletic administration in a variety of social settings. Registration is now open.

The weekend of festivities will begin with the Eagle Athletic Auction on Friday night. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Elliott Field at Don Beebe Stadium will host a social featuring registration and games, including a chip-in golf event. 

The auction program includes dinner at 6 p.m. and both silent and live auction items, including branded apparel, golf trips, handmade local items, outings to local attractions and experiences with Chadron State teams and coaches. 

Individual entry tickets for the auction are $50, or $25 when combined with the purchase of a Don Beebe Golf Classic entry. Dinner is provided and included in the ticket price. Another option is to purchase a table for $500, where eight guests will be joined by two CSC coaches or student-athletes. Table pricing includes two drink tickets per seat. 

The 2025 Don Beebe Golf Classic at Ridgeview Golf Club presented by Monument Health will take place on Saturday and Sunday. There will be two flights, both with shotgun starts, and various hole prizes. The morning flight will tee off starting at 7 a.m. while the afternoon flight will begin at 1:30 p.m.

There will also be a social at The Ridge in downtown Chadron on Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Awards presentations will take place for the morning flight at noon and at 6 p.m. for the afternoon flight on Sunday.

Registration prices are $200 for an individual and $800 for a full four-golfer team. There are limited team slots available, so teams are encouraged to register as soon as possible to lock down a spot. Competing golfers can also purchase discounted Eagle Athletic Auction tickets for $25 instead of the non-golfer rate of $50.

Registration open for CSC's annual Don Beebe Classic golf tournament

The No. 21 Nebraska softball team notched its second straight run-rule win with a 10-1 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats in five innings on Sunday in Evanston, Ill.

The Huskers moved to 31-10 (10-3 Big Ten) on the year, while Northwestern fell to 20-14-1 (9-3 Big Ten). With the series win, the Big Red snapped the Wildcats’ streak of winning 20 consecutive Big Ten series.&nbsp;

Samantha Bland and Kacie Hoffmann each had three hits, and Bland added a home run. Jordyn Bahl and Ava Kuszak both had two hits and two RBIs with a home run. Olivia DiNardo contributed two RBIs.

Kylee Magee (5-3) claimed the win in the circle after pitching 5.0 innings for a complete game. She allowed one run on only three hits and struck out four batters. Riley Grudzielanek (8-8) took the loss for Northwestern.&nbsp;

Bahl and Bland opened the game with back-to-back home runs. DiNardo walked and Hoffmann and Kuszak singled to load the bases. DiNardo and Hoffmann scored on a single by Bella Bacon and a respective Northwestern error, and NU led 4-0 after the first.

Huskers claim Series with second consecutive Run-Rule

Lincoln, NE - The home of Nebraska Volleyball will now officially bear the name of one of the legendary coaches in the history of the sport, as the University of Nebraska Board of Regents on Friday approved the naming of John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Cook retired in January following a remarkable 25-year run as the Huskers’ head coach. He guided the Huskers to four national championships, 12 NCAA Semifinal appearances and 14 conference championships. Cook achieved a career record of 883-176 (.834), the fifth-best winning percentage all-time for a Division I volleyball coach. His record of 722-103 at Nebraska is the best winning percentage (.875) for any DI program over the last 25 years.

The success of Nebraska Volleyball under Cook extended off the court to record-setting attendance. Since moving home matches to the Devaney Center in 2013, Nebraska has led the nation in attendance every season in the 8,309-seat venue which will now be named to honor Cook’s accomplishments.

In addition to the naming of John Cook Arena, the project also includes a bronze statue honoring Cook on the north side of the Devaney Sports Center. Nationally recognized sculpture artist and Nebraska native George Lundeen has been commissioned to produce the life-size tribute to Cook and his career.

“John’s success as the leader of our volleyball program is unmatched,” Nebraska Director of Athletics Troy Dannen said. “His impact goes beyond what his teams accomplished on the court, from our athletic department, our university, community and state of Nebraska. To recognize John in a manner that will be visible for generations to come is a fitting honor.”

The court inside John Cook Arena will continue to hold the name of Terry Pettit Court to recognize Cook’s predecessor and fellow Hall of Famer. Additionally, the full athletics complex will continue to be named the Bob Devaney Sports Center in honor of Nebraska Hall of Fame football coach and long-time athletic director Bob Devaney.

"This is an incredible honor. I am truly humbled by all of it,” Cook said. “I am so grateful to Troy, the entire Nebraska administration and the Board of Regents for this recognition. The Bob Devaney Sports Center and Terry Pettit Court are named after two legendary coaches, and it's an honor to be able to share the name of the facility with them. And to have a statue outside the arena just blows my mind. I'm so thankful for the run we had at Nebraska, and I know the program is in great hands moving forward. I continue to be amazed at the amount of support and all the messages I've received from Husker Nation since retiring in January. All of this just reaffirms what I've always said: There is No Place Like Nebraska."

After a split Big Ten road weekend, the Nebraska women’s tennis team returns to Lincoln for its final home matches of the 2024-25 season. The #72 Huskers (12-8, 2-7 Big Ten) will host two top-25 foes in #16 USC (11-5, 5-3 Big Ten) and #22 UCLA (10-7, 5-3 Big Ten) this weekend.NU takes on the Trojans on Friday, April 11, at 5 p.m. CT. The Big Red will celebrate its seniors, Lucy Loy and Ana Zamburek, ahead of its final home dual on Sunday, April 13, slated for noon CT against the Bruins.

Last weekend, Maria Taranova claimed her 21st singles win of the season, the sophomore’s second time accomplishing 20+ victories in a year. Taranova leads the team with 14 spring singles wins, followed by Zamburek’s 12-3 mark. On the doubles side, Emma Rizzetto and Tiziana Rossini have tallied five victories together.

#16 USC (11-5, 5-3 Big Ten)History:&nbsp;0-0; NU and USC have never met on the court. The Trojans are coming to Lincoln off a 4-1 upset over #19 Wisconsin. USC has three ranked singles players, #62 Grace Piper, #66 Emma Charney and #103 Imogen Haddad. The team is on a win-streak of two, and boasts a top-10 doubles pair in #7 Lily Fairclough/Grace Piper who are 18-5 this season.

Oblad narrowly missed a serve, which jumpstarted a 3-0 run for the Supernovas as Caffey stuffed an attack before Batenhorst slammed down a kill to cut the Thrill lead to 17-16. Payne slammed down another kill and a Vegas error tied the set at 19. Maddux and Johnson stepped up for the Thrill to break the tie with back-to-back points, but Payne answered with consecutive kills of her own to equal the score. A Vegas hitting error forced a timeout at 22-21 Omaha, but the Thrill clawed back using a Maddux kill and block to retake the lead at 23-22. Nuneviller took charge in crunch time for the Supernovas with two kills in a row to give Omaha set point, but Maddux responded with a kill to send the set into extra points tied at 24. Anae sent her next swing wide with Nuneviller ending the match with her 13th kill to give the Supernovas a 26-24 set win and their spot in the postseason.&nbsp;Omaha hit .250 in the fourth with two blocks and one ace. Payne (6 kills) and Nuneviller (5 kills) combined for 11 of the team’s 15 kills in the set. Vegas limped to a .103 team clip with eight hitting errors compared to 12 kills. The Thrill had two blocks and two aces in the set as Maddux was responsible for seven kills.&nbsp;

The No. 21 Nebraska softball team blasted three home runs to bring its season total to a program-record 79 homers and downed the Creighton Bluejays, 8-2, on Wednesday night at Bowlin Stadium.

The Huskers (29-10, 8-3 Big Ten) came into the game tied for first on the program home run charts. Samantha Bland, who tied the school record with three home runs in last Saturday’s game at Iowa, knocked a homer in the bottom of the second to secure the record. Ava Bredwell and Ava Kuszak followed with back-to-back homers in the bottom of the fifth.&nbsp;

Bland was a solid 3-for-4 on the day. Kacie Hoffman went 2-for-4 with a career-high two doubles and Kuszak was 2-for-2 with a home run and a double.&nbsp;

Jordyn Bahl (16-4) claimed the win in the circle for the Big Red. She tossed 6.0 innings and allowed only one run while striking out eight batters. Hannah Camenzind threw the final inning and allowed one run. Abby Rusher (1-2) took the loss for the Bluejays (15-20, 5-7 Big East).&nbsp;

The Huskers got on the board in the bottom of the first. H. Camenzind was hit by a pitch and scored on a Hoffmann double. Emmerson Cope singled to send Hoffmann across the plate and give NU a 2-0 lead.

Kuszak doubled to kick off the bottom of the second and crossed the plate on a Lauren Camenzind single. Bahl singled and advanced L. Camenzind to second, and Bland blasted a three-run homer – which put the team at a program-record 77 home runs on the season – to grab a 6-0 lead.

Creighton made the score 6-1 in the top of the fifth on a solo homer.

In the bottom of the fifth, Bredwell and Kuszak knocked back-to-back home runs to extend the lead to 8-1.

The Bluejays sent in a run on an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh but it wasn’t enough, and the Big Red locked up the 8-2 victory.

The Huskers will head to Evanston, Ill., to take on the Northwestern Wildcats from April 12-14. Saturday’s game is set for 2 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on B1G+. The game can also be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.&nbsp;

4 local athletes chosen for Sertoma N8M All-Star Game

North Platte, Neb.&nbsp; – North Platte Community College softball team suffers a pair of losses to Northeastern Junior College at home on Wednesday afternoon.

Northeastern opened the scoring with a nine-run second inning on four hits, three walks while two batters were hit by pitch.

The Plainswomen tacked on five runs in the third and two runs in the fourth inning, while holding the Knights to just four hits in game one.

Sheena Smith pitched two innings allowing nine runs on four hits. Alieze Moreno and Callie Klemenz came on in relief and combined to allow seven runs on four hits, while walking four batters.

Six players tallied at least one hit against the Plainswomen in game two. Northeastern jumped out to a 3-0 lead, before North Platte battled back to score two runs in the bottom of the second.

Heaven Hutchison and Smith drew walks before a wild pitch and a single by Byanka Tyan pulled the Knights back within one.

In the bottom of the fourth, Hutchison drew a walk and would later score on a Smith fly ball to right field to even the game at 3-3.

Northeastern broke the deadlock with two runs in the sixth and seventh innings to earn the sweep of the Knights.&nbsp;

Victoria Arellano took the loss in the circle, as she pitched all seven innings and allowed seven runs on nine hits.

Knights (4-18, 0-6 Region IX) will conclude the home portion of their schedule on Saturday with a Region IX doubleheader against Southeast Community College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at the Dowhower Softball Complex in North Platte.

Hamish Murray brought home his second straight top-five showing, while Brodie Cunningham added a second consecutive top-10 performance of his own with a career-best 66 (-4) in the final round to lead the Nebraska men's golf team to a third-place team finish at the Tiger Collegiate in Columbia, Mo., on Tuesday.

Murray, a senior from Sydney, Australia, took fifth individually in a 99-player field with a three-round total of 212 (+2) on the par-70, 7,158-yard layout of The Club at Old Hawthorne. Murray closed with an even-par 70 in Tuesday's final round that included 16 pars, one birdie and bogey. He opened the tournament with another even-par 70, before capping Monday with a second-round 72 (+2). It was Murray's fourth top-10 finish and seventh top-25 showing of the 2024-25 season.

Cunningham, a freshman from Glasgow, Scotland, continued his strong spring season with a career-best 66 on Tuesday to storm 26 spots up the leader board on his way to an eighth-place individual finish with a 213 (+3). Cunningham opened the tournament with a 69 (-1) before battling his way to a second-round 78. It was Cunningham's third consecutive top-15 finish and his fourth top-25 showing of the year.

Evan McDermott contributed a top-25 finish for the Big Red with a 216 (+6) to tie for 22nd. The redshirt sophomore from Spring Lake, Mich., capped a solid tournament with an even-par 70 on Tuesday, after rounds of 72 and 74 on Monday. It was his third top-25 performance of the year.

Rudy Sautron tied for 55th at 222 (+12), despite a 66 (-4) in Monday's second round. The sophomore from Reunion Island, France closed with a 74 on Tuesday, after opening the tournament with an 82 on Monday.

Reed Malleck rounded out the Nebraska lineup in a tie for 80th at 227, including his final-round 73 (+3) that counted toward NU's team score. The graduate student from York, Neb., opened with a 74, before adding an 80 in Monday's second round.

As a team, Nebraska locked up its fourth top-three team finish of the season with a three-round total of 854 (+14), including a 279 (-1) in Tuesday's final round. The Big Red opened with a 285 (+5), before managing a 290 (+10) in Monday's second round.

The hosts from Missouri won the team title with an even-par 840, including a final-round 275 (-5). St. Mary's (Calif.) finished second at 848 (+8), while Kansas State (861), Cincinnati (862) and Central Arkansas (862) rounded out the top five behind the Huskers in the 18-team tournament field. No. 26 UNLV took seventh at 863, nine shots behind Nebraska.

Missouri's Mattias Varjun earned medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 206 (-4), including a final-round 66. Cincinnati's Ryan Ford took second with an even-par 210, ahead of Missouri's Trent Mierl and Kalle Svederman from Central Arkansas who tied for third at 211.

Nebraska will be back in action next week at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio, April 18-19.

Murray, Cunningham earn top 10 finishes in Missouri

Max Buettenback went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI, as Nebraska defeated No. 22 Kansas 7-5 at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, Kan.

Nebraska (15-18) scored seven runs on eight hits, while Kansas (27-7) recorded five runs, five hits and two errors.

Buettenback led the Big Red at the plate with the three-hit effort, followed by Cayden Brumbaugh going 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Will Jesske recorded his second homer of the season with a solo shot, while Cael Frost and Case Sanderson tallied one hit apiece.

Ryan Harrahill made his second career start and allowed one run on two hits in two innings of work. TJ Coats and Blake Encarnacion worked scoreless innings in the third and fourth frames.

Jalen Worthley surrendered three runs on two hits while recording one out. Casey Daiss, Carson Jasa and Grant Cleavinger combined to shut out the Jayhawks over the next 1.2 innings. Pryce Bender picked up his first career win after tossing a scoreless seventh inning.

Drew Christo hurled a clean frame in the eighth, while Luke Broderick recorded his sixth save of the season after allowing one run on a hit in the ninth inning.

Nebraska took advantage of a leadoff baserunner and manufactured its first run of the night without a hit in the top for the first. Sanderson began the game plunked on an 0-1 pitch and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Riley Silva. A wild pitch moved the sophomore to third, before Brumbaugh’s RBI groundout to shortstop broke the scoreless tie.

Kansas evened the game at one in the bottom of the first behind a pair of hits. A one-out single to left field set the table for a two-out RBI double down the left-field line, where the Jayhawks tied the game at one in a play at the plate.

The Huskers responded with a pair of runs on two hits and an error to take the lead back at 3-1 in the second. Dylan Carey reached on a leadoff error and scored all the way from first on Buettenback’s RBI double down the right-field line. Jesske sent the first pitch over the right-field wall for a 392-foot solo homer to give the Big Red a 3-1 lead through two innings.

The NU offense tacked on a run in the fourth after a scoreless third inning to grow the lead to 4-1. Carey worked a full-count walk with one out, before Buettenback drilled his second RBI double of the night down the right-field line to score Carey from first and give the Big Red a three-run advantage.

The Jayhawks plated three runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at four. An RBI double to the left-field wall after a one-out walk brought Kansas within 4-2, while a first-pitch two-run homer over the batter’s eye in center field made it a 4-4 game through five innings.

Nebraska and Kansas exchanged scoreless sixth and seventh innings, before the Big Red rallied for two eighth-inning runs to grab a late 6-4 lead. Silva led off with a walk, and Brumbaugh singled through the left side to put runners on first and second with no outs.

The Big Red were down to their final out in the eighth when Buettenback’s RBI single to shortstop brought home Silva. Frost followed Buettenback’s infield single with an RBI single up the middle to plate Brumbaugh and give the Huskers a 6-4 lead.

Area Track and Field results from Buffalo Bill Invite North Platte

The No. 20 Nebraska softball team will travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to take on the Hawkeyes this weekend. The games are set for 5 p.m. (CT) on Friday, 2 p.m. (CT) on Saturday and 1 p.m. (CT) on Sunday.&nbsp;

The Huskers are No. 20 in the NFCA Coaches Poll and have been ranked every week this season. They were also tabbed No. 21 in the ESPN/USA Softball rankings.

Last weekend, the Huskers hosted the Purdue Boilermakers for a three-game conference series. The Big Red grabbed victories on Saturday (13-1, five innings) and Sunday (6-0) but took a loss on Monday (2-6). Kacie Hoffmann and Hannah Camenzind each had a multi-homer game in the series. H. Camenzind also grabbed the Saturday victory in the circle, while Jordyn Bahl claimed the win on Friday. Bahl allowed no earned runs in that game while picking up a save and striking out 13 batters across her two appearances in the series. The Papillion, Neb., native earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.&nbsp;

Husker Pitching Staff Coming Off Quality Week

The Nebraska pitchers have been steadily improving over the course of the season, and their work culminated this past week.

The Nebraska softball team has enjoyed a solid season at the plate, most notably with its home run numbers.&nbsp;

Nebraska softball pitcher and utility player Jordyn Bahl has not only had an impact in the circle, but her offense is a force to be reckoned with.

Nebraska’s 2025 roster consists of 25 total athletes. Fourteen of those are returners.

Nebraska utilized the transfer portal this offseason, bringing in six new players -- Hannah and Lauren Camenzind and Kacie Hoffmann from Arkansas, Olivia DiNardo from Arizona, Kylee Magee from Arizona State and Ava Kuszak from Wisconsin.

Nebraska faced significant adversity in 2024, as a total of six players suffered season-ending injuries, including four that are returning for the 2025 season. Additionally, Arizona State transfer Kylee Magee had to use the offseason for rehab.&nbsp;

Iowa is 21-12 with a 3-4 mark in Big Ten competition. As a team, the Hawkeyes bat .290 and have an ERA of 3.64.

The school record for home runs in a season is 76 in 2022.</li><li>A total of 14 Huskers have hit a home run this season, including 12 players with multiple home runs.</li><li>The Huskers have homered five times in a game on four occasions this season, including three consecutive games to open the Troy Cox Classic.</li><li>Nebraska has produced 11 innings this season with multiple home runs, including five innings with three or more home runs.</li><li>Nebraska has hit back-to-back home runs five times this season, including three times with three consecutive home runs that includes a school-record four straight home runs against San Jose State on Feb. 22.</li><li>Ava Kuszak (twice), Jordyn Bahl, Abbie Squier Emmerson Cope (twice) and Hannah Camenzind have all had a multi-homer game this season, including a three-home run game from Kuszak against Montana on Feb. 16 which tied the Nebraska and Big Ten records for home runs in a game.</li><li>Kuszak has hit more home runs herself (12) than 91 NCAA Division I teams.</li><li>Together, Kuszak (12) and Jordyn Bahl (11) have combined for 23 home runs. Their two-player combined total of 23 home runs would rank 111th among all NCAA Division I teams this spring and would be more than five Big Ten schools have hit as a team.</li><li>Twelve Huskers – Bahl, Kuszak, Squier, Bella Bacon, Alina Felix, Malia Thoms, Lauren Camenzind and Alina Felix – have already matched or exceeded their career season highs in home runs.</li>

 <li>As it stands, the 2025 squad would rank first in school history in slugging percentage (.636), second in on base percentage (.421) and third in home runs (69).&nbsp;</li><li>The Big Red scored 10+ runs in five straight games from Feb. 14-16 for the first time in program history.</li><li>NU notched five home runs in three straight games for what is believed to be the first time in school history.</li><li>In the Huskers’ game against San Jose State at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, they hit four straight home runs for the first time in program history.</li><li>Nebraska scored 102 runs in its first 10 games of the season, which marked the quickest the team has hit the 100-run milestone.</li><li>The Huskers scored 200 runs in their first 23 games of the season, which marked the quickest the team has hit the 200-run milestone.</li><li>Ava Kuszak posted three home runs in the second game against Montana and is now tied with Kaylan Jablonski and Christie McCoy for the school record for home runs in a game.</li>
 </ul>Bahl Solid at the PlateNebraska softball pitcher and utility player Jordyn Bahl has not only had an impact in the circle, but her offense is a force to be reckoned with.<ul>
 <li>Bahl ranks in the top 25 nationally in extra-base hits (12th), runs per game (13th), and slugging percentage (22nd).</li><li>On the season, 24 of Bahl’s 46 hits have gone for extra bases. She averages an extra-base hit every 4.4 at bats and almost one extra-base hit per game.</li><li>Bahl has nearly as many hits herself as she has allowed as a pitcher. Bahl has 46 hits in 105 at bats at the plate and in the circle, she has allowed only 55 hits in 424 opponent at bats.</li><li>Bahl has also scored more runs herself (42) than she has allowed (39) in 107.1 innings in the circle.</li>
 </ul>What Nebraska Returned in 2025Nebraska’s 2025 roster consists of 25 total athletes. Fourteen of those are returners.<ul>

 </ul>Huskers Hit the PortalNebraska utilized the transfer portal this offseason, bringing in six new players -- Hannah and Lauren Camenzind and Kacie Hoffmann from Arkansas, Olivia DiNardo from Arizona, Kylee Magee from Arizona State and Ava Kuszak from Wisconsin.<ul>
 <li>Hannah Camenzind was a second-team All-SEC member in 2023. Over her two seasons with the Razorbacks, she posted a 14-3 record with 3.11 ERA over 119.1 total innings. At the plate, she batted .308.</li><li>Lauren Camenzind was a third-team NFCA All-South Region member in 2023. Over her two seasons at Arkansas, she played in 86 games (79 starts) at both catcher and shortstop.</li><li>DiNardo racked up numerous accolades during her two years at Arizona. She was a second-team NFCA All-West Region member in 2023 and a Third-Team member in 2024 and was named a Second-Team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honoree in 2023. Over the course of two seasons with the Wildcats, DiNardo started 102 games and built up a batting average of .340, along with 15 doubles, 20 home runs and 74 RBIs.</li><li>Hoffmann played in 106 games with 96 starts during her time with Arkansas. She hit .244 and logged 16 doubles, 15 home runs and 47 RBIs.&nbsp;</li><li>Kuszak earned second-team All-Big Ten honors and third-team NFCA All-Great Lakes Region accolades in 2024. During her two seasons at Wisconsin, she played in 76 games with 65 starts and notched 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 33 RBIs on a .278 batting average.</li><li>Magee was named a member of the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team at Arizona State in 2023. She suffered an injury early in the 2024 season. She pitched in 27 games with 24 starts and compiled a 3.51 ERA and two saves, along with striking out 79 batters in 89.2 innings.</li>
 </ul>Huskers Returning from InjuriesNebraska faced significant adversity in 2024, as a total of six players suffered season-ending injuries, including four that are returning for the 2025 season. Additionally, Arizona State transfer Kylee Magee had to use the offseason for rehab.&nbsp;<ul>
 <li>Jordyn Bahl suffered a knee injury in the Huskers’ 2024 season opener that required season-ending surgery. Bahl was a First-Team All-American, the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and one of 10 national finalists for player of the year in 2022 and 2023.&nbsp;</li><li>Abbie Squier, a returning All-Big Ten and all-region selection, returns after being out for the 2024 season due to surgery. In 2022 and 2023, she was the Big Red’s starting left fielder.&nbsp;</li><li>Dakota Carter, the Huskers’ designated player, was deemed out for the 2024 season before it even began. In 2023, she scored 13 runs as a pinch runner and appeared in 39 games.&nbsp;</li><li>Caitlin Olensky suffered a season-ending injury in the Huskers’ conference opener against Illinois last year. Before her injury, she compiled a record of 3-2 with a team-best 3.30 ERA.</li><li>Emmerson Cope was out for almost a month of the 2024 season after battling a back injury. When she was in the lineup, the Topeka, Kan., native amassed an ERA of 4.76 in the circle. She racked up 21 hits, 10 runs, six homers and 19 RBIs.&nbsp;</li><li>Talia Tokheim missed the first 23 games of the season while rehabbing an injury from 2023. She returned for nine games before suffering another season-ending injury in game three of the Penn State series. In her limited time on the field, she notched 46 total bases and seven home runs.</li><li>Kylee Magee suffered a season-ending injury after racking up six appearances with four starts in her sophomore year with the Sun Devils. In her first two years at Arizona State, she struck out 79 batters in 89.2 innings.&nbsp;</li>
 </ul>Scouting Iowa (21-12, 3-4 Big Ten)Iowa is 21-12 with a 3-4 mark in Big Ten competition. As a team, the Hawkeyes bat .290 and have an ERA of 3.64.<ul>
 <li>The Huskers and Hawkeyes have common opponents in Tennessee, Texas Tech, Missouri, UCLA and South Dakota State. NU grabbed wins over the Vols, Tigers and two over the Jackrabbits, while Iowa defeated SDSU twice, split two games with UCLA and lost to the other teams.</li><li>Jalen Adams is fifth nationally and second in the Big Ten with 15 victories on the year.</li><li>Senior Hannah Lindsay was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 17, the Hawkeyes’ only weekly honor so far this season.</li><li>Jena Young bats .385 on the season and has a homer, eight doubles and 18 RBIs. She also boasts a 1.030 OPS.&nbsp;</li><li>Soo-Jin Berry has a team-high eight home runs this year, along with seven doubles on a .380 batting average.&nbsp;</li><li>Lindsay owns 21 RBIs in 77 at bats and has a .299 batting average and three home runs.</li><li>Allyssa Ramos and Desiree Rivera each have 13 RBIs. Ramos posts an average of .278, while Rivera’s is .261. They each add two home runs.</li><li>Tory Bennett has started every game for the Hawkeyes and has notched 20 hits, 16 RBIs and four doubles on a .222 average.</li><li>Devin Simon has also started every game and has a .280 average. She has 23 hits and 16 runs, along with six doubles and a homer.</li><li>Adams is the Hawkeyes’ ace, as she has pitched 114.1 innings and is 15-4 on the season. She has allowed 36 earned runs and struck out 84 batters.</li><li>Talia Tretton owns an ERA of 3.43 and a record of 6-5 across 79.2 innings pitched. She has allowed 39 earned runs and has 65 strikeouts and 44 walks.</li><li>Haley Downe (11.31 ERA, 4.1 IP), Andrea Jaskowiak (5.31 ERA, 3.2 IP) and Jaylee Ojo (24.00 ERA, 2.1 IP) make up the rest of Iowa’s pitching staff.</li><li>Karl Gollan was named head coach on March 7 and is leading the team in 2025 after Renee Gillispie stepped aside for personal health reasons.</li>

The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team is set to compete in the second round of the NCAA Championships on Friday, April 4, at the Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, Wash. The Huskers will compete in Session II, which starts at 9 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on ESPN+. NU will face off against No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 15 Auburn and the winner of the first round matchup on Thursday between Illinois and UC Davis.&nbsp;

The top two teams from each of the two sessions taking place on Friday will advance to the NCAA Regional Final, which will be on Sunday, April 6 at 7 p.m. (CT). Session I features No. 7 Missouri, No. 10 Georgia, No. 21 Arizona and Arizona State.

The Big Red kicked off its postseason run at the Big Ten Championships and placed ninth with a score of 196.175.&nbsp;

Emma Spence and Sophia McClelland were named to the Big Ten Conference Championship teams for their performance in the first session. Spence took the Big Ten Championships bar title with a season-high 9.975, and fourth in the all-around with a season-high 39.575. McClelland tied for third on beam across all sessions with a 9.950.&nbsp;

UCLA finished in first with a score of 198.450.

Session II of the Washington Regional will include Nebraska, along with No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 15 Auburn and the winner of the first round game on Thursday between Illinois and UC Davis.&nbsp;

The No. 2 Sooners are 21-2 on the season with a 7-1 mark in conference competition. They own an NQS of 198.040, including a high score of 198.475. Most recently, they finished second at the SEC Championships with a 197.925. Nebraska faced OU at the American Gold Collegiate Championship, where the Big Red fell 197.550-194.475.&nbsp;

The Tigers have an NQS of 197.170 and a high score of 197.750. They are 10-6 overall (3-5 SEC). The Huskers also faced AU at the American Gold Collegiate Championship, where NU fell 195.950-194.475.&nbsp;

Illinois is 9-12 this season (3-6 Big Ten) with an NQS score of 196.205. Nebraska fell to Illinois at Champaign this season 196.275-195.600.&nbsp;

UC Davis has an NQS score of 195.870 and a high team score of 196.400.&nbsp;
