On August 14th District Judge Travis O' Gorman presided over the sentencing of Yadira L. Garza. Garza was found guilty on a count of Attempted Use of a Deadly Weapon To Commit A Felony.
The charges are based on an incident involving a stand-off with Alliance police in November of 2023. The stand-off involved the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT team, Nebraska Game and Parks, Alliance Fire Department, Scottsbluff Police Department and other organizations.
Garza was sentenced to a term of not less than six years and not more than twelve years. Garza did receive credit for 263 days previously served, and has been ordered to pay the costs of prosecution.
