Whitman, Neb. - The National Weather Service has released an updated assessing of the tornado that struck Whitman, Ne Tuesday evening. According to their report, the tornado is now classified as an EF-3 tornado. Several homes sustained damage and two houses received significant damage.

Whitman, Neb. - Two homes were destroyed, and one person injured after an EF-2 tornado touched down in Whitman Tuesday evening, according to officials.
According to the Grant County Sheriff, at around 7:30 pm, Tuesday evening, an EF-2 tornado touched down and was seen going through Whitman.
The sheriff reports, the Village sustained minor structural damage to homes, trees and vehicles. Approximately 1/2 mile south of Whitman 2 homes were destroyed and one person reported injured. Two of three communications towers at Whitman were destroyed.
The sheriff also added that there is no power to the Village of Whitman and lines are being assessed. A better assessment will be made today. Only emergency personnel or residence are allowed in the area, and people should stay clear of it during this time.
