The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) released video Tuesday showing a routine interception of Two Russian Tu-95MS “Bear” Strategic Bombers by U.S. Air Force F16 Fighters on September 23.
The Russian aircraft had entered the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). During the encounter, the Su-35 that was escorting the Russian Bombers, began behaving eratically and nearly collided with one of the F-16s.
“The NORAD aircraft flew a safe and disciplined intercept of Russian Military Aircraft in the Alaska ADIZ. The conduct of one Russian Su-35 was unsafe, unprofessional, and endangered all – not what you’d see in a professional air force," according to General Gregory Guillot, commander of United States Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command.
