Nebraska gymnast Emma Spence was named a Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. She shares the honor with Sierra Brooks of Michigan.
In the Huskers’ meet at Arkansas on Friday, March 15, Spence won the all-around title with a 39.650 that tied her career high. She scored a 9.950 on floor, which also tied her career best, along with a 9.875 on bars, 9.925 on vault and 9.900 on beam. Her beam score earned her a share of the event title.
Along with her personal records, the junior contributed to a team season-high score of 197.375 and season-high scores on vault (49.375) and beam (49.400).
The last time a Husker garnered Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors was on Jan. 22, 2019, when Taylor Houchin won the award. Senior Kinsey Davis has been named a Big Ten Co-Event Specialist of the Week twice this season.
