2025 league MVP and defending AU champion Brittany Abercrombie made it a point to surround herself with Supernovas as she drafted three of the six competing at AU. Setter&nbsp;Sydney Hilley&nbsp;was the first Supernovas player off the board, going in the fifth round. The playoff MVP in the Supernovas’ inaugural Pro Volleyball Championship run in 2024, Hilley returns to Omaha after earning Setter of the Year honors with the Indy Ignite.&nbsp;

Abercrombie followed up by selecting reigning Outside Hitter of the Year and franchise cornerstone&nbsp;Brooke Nuneviller&nbsp;in the sixth round. The Oregon graduate will play in her third season with the Supernovas starting in January. Supernovas middle blocker&nbsp;Elise Goetzinger&nbsp;was chosen two rounds later and will join two of her future teammates. AU will mark Goetzinger’s professional debut after she sat out the 2025 spring season to finish her degree at Creighton, where she wrapped up her college career in 2024.&nbsp;

Team USA and Supernovas libero&nbsp;Morgan Hentz&nbsp;was named one of four Week One captains as the AU three-time defending Defensive Player of the Year. She selected a pair of Supernovas outside hitters, taking 2025 NORCECA Final Six MVP&nbsp;Reagan Cooper&nbsp;in the sixth round and&nbsp;Sarah Wilhite Parsons&nbsp;in the seventh. Hentz wasn’t afraid to draft former Supernovas either, adding&nbsp;Tori Dixon, Kayla Caffey&nbsp;and&nbsp;Natalia Valentín-Anderson&nbsp;in her previous three picks.&nbsp;

Week One of the AU Pro Volleyball Championship will take place at&nbsp;Ralston’s Liberty First Credit Union Arena&nbsp;on Oct. 3, 5 and 6. Supernovas represented on two teams in AU Pro Volleyball Championship opening week

The Nebraska baseball program announced its 2026 schedule on Wednesday morning. The Huskers will play 56 games, including 23 home games at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.

The announced portion of the 2026 slate includes 19 games against eight 2025 NCAA Tournament participants in Auburn, Creighton, Florida State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Oregon and USC.

The Huskers begin the 2026 campaign in a marquee event, as the Huskers compete in the MLB Desert Invitational on Feb. 13-16 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Other competing teams and matchups will be announced at a later date.

The Big Red play in a premier event for the third consecutive season, where the Huskers are set to face Louisville, Kansas State and Florida State at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field (Feb. 20-22).

In the final weekend of non-conference action, Nebraska travels for a three-game set at Auburn (Feb. 27-March 1) before coming home for a five-game homestand.

The Huskers welcome Omaha (March 3) and South Dakota State (March 4) in back-to-back midweek tilts and open Big Ten play with a home series against Michigan State (March 6-8).

The Big Red step out of Big Ten action with seven consecutive non-conference matchups, including a midweek trip to Missouri State (March 10-11), a home series vs. Maine (March 13-15) and a two-game set at Wichita State (March 17-18).

Nebraska visits Michigan (March 20-22) and Kansas State (March 24) ahead of a home series against Indiana (March 27-29) and a midweek matchup at Creighton (March 31).

NU welcomes Penn State (April 3-5) and Kansas (April 7) to Lincoln to begin the month of April before venturing northwest for a three-game series at Oregon (April 10-12).

The Huskers host Creighton (April 14) and USC (April 17-19) at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park ahead of road trips to Kansas (April 21) and Illinois (April 24-26).

The Big Red end April with a midweek matchup vs. Kansas State (April 28) and begin the month of May with a three-game series at Ohio State (May 1-3) before playing the final home series of the season vs. Iowa (May 8-10).

The Huskers conclude the regular season with a midweek tilt at Creighton (May 12) and a visit to Minnesota (May 14-16) in the final weekend of Big Ten play.

Charles Schwab Field in Omaha will be the setting for the Big Ten Tournament for the ninth time, having previously been the site in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2022-24.

Huskers unveil 2026 schedule

The Nebraska bowling team begins the 2025-26 season as No. 2 team in the nation in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) 2025-26 preseason poll released Wednesday.

The Huskers received a total of 1,702 total points and seven first-place votes, just behind No. 1 Jacksonville State who received 1,777 total points and 14 first place votes.

NU is ranked ahead of No. 3 Vanderbilt (1,680 total points and seven first place votes) and defending national champion No. 4 Youngstown State (1,633 total points and 16 first place votes).

The Big Red returns nine bowlers from last season, including reigning NTCA Player of the Year and 2025 First-Team All-American Jillian Martin and 2025 Second-Team All-American Kayla Starr.

After finishing third at the 2025 NCAA Championship, the Huskers continue their quest for their first national title since 2021 in their first year competing in Conference USA. North Platte, Neb. – North Platte Community College volleyball fell in straight sets (26-24, 25-19, 25-19) to rival McCook on Wednesday night at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

Outside hitter Makenna Stephenson led the Knights with 16 kills and eight digs. Sophomore Zoe Maher added 10 digs, while Kiley Kearney tallied 34 assists in the loss.

"We have to be more consistent,” said head coach Alexa McCall. "We have the players and the power, but we have to play together and be more competitive late in sets."

The opening set was tightly contested, with both teams trading points early. A kill from Khloee Wright sparked a 4-0 run that gave the Knights a slight edge, while another strong run extended their advantage to 18-13. However, the Indians rallied to tie it at 23-23 and eventually claimed the set in extra points.

McCook carried the momentum into the second set, jumping ahead early behind an ace from Peightan Swanson. A North Platte rally cut the deficit to 7-6 after an attacking error, but McCook regained control and pulled away late, scoring the final four points to take a 2-0 lead.

In the early moments of the third set, McCook used a 5-1 burst to take an 8-4 lead. North Platte answered with their own 5-1 rally to knot the game up on a McCook attacking error. Teams continued to trade points down the stretch until a 7-1 rally pushed McCook out to a 22-16 advantage. North Platte could not overcome the deficit and fell to the Indians in the final set, 25-19.

The Huskers will start the season on the road, travelling to Annapolis, Md. for the Navy Classic on Nov. 2 before returning home to take on Army at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Nov. 7.&nbsp;

NU will travel to Tulsa, Okla., for the National Duals Invitational. The invitational will feature 16 teams, slating 11 of the top 12 teams in the final 2025 NCAA standings and will compete for a $200,000 grand prize. The dual will be November 15-16 at the BOK Center.

On Dec. 5, the Huskers will compete at the Journeymen Duals in St. Charles, Mo., before heading back to Lincoln for a home series. NU will host North Carolina on Dec. 19 and Oklahoma St. on Dec. 21. The Big Red will finish non-conference duals at home against Northern Iowa on Jan. 3.&nbsp;

Conference competition will feature eight duals, four home and four away. Big Ten action starts on the road against Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 16. The following weekend, the Huskers will host Iowa on Friday, Jan. 23 and Ohio State on Sunday, Jan. 25. It will be the first home dual against the Buckeyes since 2020.&nbsp;

NU will head to University Park, Pa. to face the 2025 National Champion Penn State Nittany Lions on Friday, Jan. 30. The following weekend, the Huskers welcome Purdue on Feb. 6 and Northwestern on Feb. 8.&nbsp;

The Big Red will close out Big Ten regular-season action on the road against Illinois on Feb. 13 and Indiana on Feb. 15, before traveling Utah to face Utah Valley on Feb. 21 to wrap up the regular season.&nbsp;

CHADRON, Neb. – Chadron State battled in the first and third sets but ultimately fell in straight sets to Fort Lewis by scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-22 in the conference home opener at the Chicoine Center. 

Gibson Beckler recorded six kills along with a team-high 16 digs and three blocks, Avery Lacy chipped in 15 digs and Bella Adams had a team-high seven kills for the Eagles, who dropped to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in RMAC play. The Skyhawks, who hit .265 for the match, improved to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in league play. 

The two teams exchanged points early in the first set, with an Adams kill and Beckler/Chloe Grady combo block coming early in the match, but Fort Lewis used a 4-1 scoring run to open up a 7-4 lead. 

Trailing 19-14, Chadron State used a 4-1 run of its own, including another Beckler/Grady block and aces from both Shelby Harding and Avery Lacy, to pull within two points at 20-18. The Eagles would go on to save two match points before an Eagles error ended the first set for the visitors. 

Chadron State couldn't get going in the second set, with Fort Lewis leading by margins of 6-2, 11-5 and 21-11 before closing on a 4-0 run to take set two, 25-13. The Eagles refused to go down without a fight, however, scoring nine points in a row to take an early lead in the third set. 

The Eagles fed Adams for two kills and Beckler for three kills around three attack errors from Fort Lewis to take a 13-6 lead, but the Skyhawks slowly chipped away. Fort Lewis pulled within one point three times before fully turning the tide, using a 5-0 scoring run to take a 22-20 lead. Although Beckler and Kally Kirkwood countered with kills to tie the score, the Skyhawks answered with three consecutive kills to put a bow on the match. 

Chadron State hit .172 as a team, highlighted by a .222 percentage in the first set. Fort Lewis held the edge in kills (51-32), aces (6-2) and digs (64-60), while Chadron State had five blocks to FLC's two.

Fort Lewis sweeps CSC to open Homecoming volleyball weekend

The Nebraska soccer team conceded two goals in less than a minute and fell to the Michigan Wolverines, 2-1, on Thursday evening at Barbara Hibner Stadium.&nbsp;

That was the Huskers’ first loss of the season, and NU fell to 5-1-5 (0-1-3 Big Ten). Michigan improved to 4-6-1 (1-2-1 Big Ten).&nbsp;

The Big Red held the advantage in shots (24-8), shots on goal (10-5) and corner kicks (6-3) but only converted one goal, a shot into the top left of the goal by freshman Carson Bohonek in the 35th minute. Bohonek was assisted on the goal by fellow first-years Sadie Sant and Mila Brach.

Cece Villa (4-1-5) took the loss in goal, after allowing two scores by the Wolverines. Villa tallied three saves in the net.&nbsp;

Sant took five shots, including three on goal for Nebraska. Kayma Carpenter also had five shots and Sadie Waite added four. Sant, Ella Rudney and Ellie Felt picked up yellow cards, as Michigan had nine fouls to the Huskers’ 14.&nbsp;

NU was on the offensive in the first half, taking 12 shots to only three by UM. The Wolverines’ two goals came in the 48th and 49th minutes of the game, and the Big Red failed to net the equalizer despite taking 11 shots after Michigan took the lead.&nbsp;

LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team opened Big Ten play with a 25-22, 25-10, 25-13 sweep of Michigan on Wednesday in front of 8,543 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.&nbsp;

The Huskers (11-0, 1-0 Big Ten) hit .380 and held the Wolverines (10-2, 0-1 Big Ten) to .108 hitting.&nbsp;

Harper Murray tallied 11 kills and hit .391 with seven digs and two blocks. Virginia Adriano recorded 10 kills on .444 hitting and added three blocks. Rebekah Allick had nine kills with two blocks, while Andi Jackson tallied eight kills on .778 hitting with three blocks.&nbsp;

Bergen Reilly notched 28 assists, nine digs, five kills and an ace. Reilly passed her head coach, Dani Busboom Kelly, for fifth on NU's career assists list in the rally scoring era (2,950).&nbsp;

Olivia Mauch had a team-high 11 digs.&nbsp;

Nebraska got five aces from five different players, and the Big Red nearly doubled up Michigan in kills, 47-24. The Huskers had 37 digs to 24 for the Wolverines.&nbsp;

Set 1: Jackson and Murray had kills, and Allick recorded back-to-back kills for an 8-5 NU lead. The Huskers went on a 5-0 run with Adriano serving to go up 16-9. Jackson and Murray each had two kills in that run. Landfair and Allick posted kills to get to 21-16, but Michigan fought back to within 22-21. A Michigan attacking error and Landfair kill earned set point, and Nebraska won 25-22 on a Michigan service error.&nbsp;

Set 2: The Huskers scored the first five points with Adriano posting three kills and a block with Jackson. Mauch served an ace during her run. Jackson and Murray added kills for an 8-1 lead that forced a Michigan timeout. Sigler hammered a kill from the back row, and Jackson added another before a Murray ace helped the Huskers go up 12-2. The Wolverines scored five of the next six to cut it to 13-7 and eventually got as close as five at 14-9. But a pair of Michigan errors and kills by Murray, Adriano and Allick put NU up 20-9 with Landfair serving the 6-0 run. After Michigan ended the run, Adriano and Jackson posted kills, and Jackson and Murray had a block before a Murray kill earned set point. Adriano put it away, 25-10, with her sixth kill of the set. The Huskers hit .565 in set two and held Michigan to .000.&nbsp;

Set 3: NU separated from an 8-8 tie with a 7-0 run served by Reilly. Allick had two kills and a block with Adriano in that stretch, while Landfair posted a kill and Reilly served an ace. Another kill by Adriano, an ace by Landfair and a kill by Murray increased the lead to 20-9 after another run served by Landfair. An ace by Campbell Flynn gave the Huskers match point, and NU won 25-13. NU hit .346 in the final set, while Michigan hit -.033.&nbsp;

Story by NU Athletic CommunicationLINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team opened Big Ten play with a 25-22, 25-10, 25-13 sweep of Michigan on Wednesday in front of 8,543 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.&nbsp;The Huskers (11-0, 1-0 Big Ten) hit .380 and held the Wolverines (10-2, 0-1 Big Ten) to .108 hitting.&nbsp;Harper Murray tallied 11 kills and hit .391 with seven digs and two blocks. Virginia Adriano recorded 10 kills on .444 hitting and added three blocks. Rebekah Allick had nine kills with two blocks, while Andi Jackson tallied eight kills on .778 hitting with three blocks.&nbsp;Bergen Reilly notched 28 assists, nine digs, five kills and an ace. Reilly passed her head coach, Dani Busboom Kelly, for fifth on NU's career assists list in the rally scoring era (2,950).&nbsp;Olivia Mauch had a team-high 11 digs.&nbsp;Nebraska got five aces from five different players, and the Big Red nearly doubled up Michigan in kills, 47-24. The Huskers had 37 digs to 24 for the Wolverines.&nbsp;Set 1: Jackson and Murray had kills, and Allick recorded back-to-back kills for an 8-5 NU lead. The Huskers went on a 5-0 run with Adriano serving to go up 16-9. Jackson and Murray each had two kills in that run. Landfair and Allick posted kills to get to 21-16, but Michigan fought back to within 22-21. A Michigan attacking error and Landfair kill earned set point, and Nebraska won 25-22 on a Michigan service error.&nbsp;Set 2: The Huskers scored the first five points with Adriano posting three kills and a block with Jackson. Mauch served an ace during her run. Jackson and Murray added kills for an 8-1 lead that forced a Michigan timeout. Sigler hammered a kill from the back row, and Jackson added another before a Murray ace helped the Huskers go up 12-2. The Wolverines scored five of the next six to cut it to 13-7 and eventually got as close as five at 14-9. But a pair of Michigan errors and kills by Murray, Adriano and Allick put NU up 20-9 with Landfair serving the 6-0 run. After Michigan ended the run, Adriano and Jackson posted kills, and Jackson and Murray had a block before a Murray kill earned set point. Adriano put it away, 25-10, with her sixth kill of the set. The Huskers hit .565 in set two and held Michigan to .000.&nbsp;Set 3: NU separated from an 8-8 tie with a 7-0 run served by Reilly. Allick had two kills and a block with Adriano in that stretch, while Landfair posted a kill and Reilly served an ace. Another kill by Adriano, an ace by Landfair and a kill by Murray increased the lead to 20-9 after another run served by Landfair. An ace by Campbell Flynn gave the Huskers match point, and NU won 25-13. NU hit .346 in the final set, while Michigan hit -.033.&nbsp;Up Next: Nebraska hosts Maryland on Saturday at 3 p.m.
