Lexington, Neb. - A Lexington woman has been arrested for motor vehicle homicide after striking her partner early Sunday morning.
According to the Lexington Police Department, officers responded to a traffic accident around 4:30am Sunday morning involving a pedestrian that was hit. The pedestrian was identified as 38-year-old Yuniesky Diaz Gomez, who was transported to Lexington Regional Hospital, with life threating injuries. Diaz Gomez succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.
The driver was identified as 42-year-old Vilma Almanza Siles, who officials say was in a relationship with Diaz Gomes. Witnesses reported to officers that an argument was taking place between the two upon arrival home. Almanza Siles was attempting to leave the property when Diaz Gomez stepped in front of the vehicle to prevent her from leaving and was struck by the vehicle.
Almanza Siles has been arrested and is charged with Driving Under the Influence and Motor Vehicle Homicide.
The investigation is ongoing, and an autopsy has been scheduled for later today.
