A heat advisory is in effect today for much of the listening area. According to the National Weather Service, North Platte office, North Platte, Imperial, Curtis, and McCook are just a few towns in the area that are effected by the heat advisory.
Maximum Heats Indices for the area include North Platte 100 degrees, Imperial 101 degrees, Curtis 104 degrees, and McCook 105 degrees. A handful of coverage area not in the heat advisory can still reach high 90's throughout the day, check out the graphic below.
Hot temperatures mixed with humidity can be cause for potentially dangerous heat illnesses to occur. Stay hydrated during this time and stay in a cool area. Also wear sunscreen when outside in the heat. Never leave pets or people in a vehicle during this time of extreme heat.
