The heat advisory, which has been baking the listening area the last four days expires this evening at 7:00pm (CT), 6:00pm (MT). According to the National Weather Service, North Platte Office (NWS), the heat advisory affects North Platte, McCook, Curtis, Ogallala, Imperial and more. The heat advisory began Friday afternoon.
Temperature highs are looking to hit high 90s and low 100s. For North Platte, it'll be a high of 96 degrees, while Curtis and Imperial will reach triple digits.
The NWS says there is a slight chance of severe weather that could hit the listening area. Scattered thunderstorms could impact the area from late afternoon into the evening.
Hot temperatures mixed with humidity can cause potentially dangerous heat illnesses to occur. Stay hydrated during this time and stay in a cool area. Also wear sunscreen when outside in the heat. Never leave pets or people in a vehicle during this time of extreme heat.
