Ogallala, Ne - The Girls State Basketball Tournament begins Wednesday in Lincoln, the Paxton Lady Tigers defeated Leyton 77-59 in their district final led by Jacelyn Jorgensen's double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds to qualify for the D2 State Tournament. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Fote, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Paxton, bringing their record for this year to 17-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game.
Paxton will be the #8 seed in the D2 Tournament playing #1 Overton at 9am Wednesday, at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Broken Bow also qualified in the C1 State Tournament and will play Thurdsay afternoon at 3:15pm at the Devaney Center. The C1 Tournament is loaded with western Nebraska schools, Bridgeport is the #4 seed, while Sidney is the #2 seed in Class C1
