The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners and Board of Equalization are scheduled to meet Monday morning at the Lincoln County Courthouse, with discussions on commercial property valuations and the county's telephone system among the items on the agenda.
Commissioners will convene at 9 a.m. Monday, June 15, in the Commissioners Room at the Lincoln County Courthouse. Following routine business, the board will recess and reconvene as the Board of Equalization at 9:15 a.m.
During the Board of Equalization meeting, Lincoln County Assessor officials are scheduled to discuss the county's 2027 commercial physical review and inspection process. The agenda also calls for an explanation of the income approach used in commercial property valuations and the creation of an income database.
Property valuations have been a frequent topic of discussion among taxpayers across Nebraska in recent years as rising valuations have affected property tax bills. The assessor's presentation is expected to provide information on how commercial properties are reviewed and valued for assessment purposes.
The Board of Equalization will also consider certificates of correction and refund submitted by the county assessor, as well as motor vehicle tax exemptions submitted by the county treasurer.
Back in regular session, commissioners are scheduled to receive a follow-up report from the county's information technology department regarding the Lincoln County telephone system. The county has been working through communication system issues in recent months, making the update one of the more closely watched agenda items.
Other business on Monday's agenda includes approval of claims and treasurer's receipts, receipt of fee reports from the county clerk, register of deeds and sheriff's office, and consideration of a special designated liquor permit requested by DEAM Inc., operating as Axes & Aces, for a wedding reception planned July 11 at Occasions.
The agenda also includes public comment opportunities during both the commissioners and Board of Equalization meetings. Commissioners may enter closed session if necessary to discuss litigation, real estate matters, security issues or personnel evaluations as allowed by law.
The meeting will be streamed through the Lincoln County Board's YouTube channel.
