OGALLALA, Neb. — The Ogallala City Council will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 27, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 411 East 2nd Street. The meeting will cover several important topics, including the resignation of council member Kevin Block and other routine business affecting the community.
The council will review consent items such as the resignation of JD Cartwright from the Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department and a change order for the West and East 2nd Street improvement projects. City departments will provide updates, including a fiscal year 2024–2025 audit presentation by Marcy Luth of AMGL. Reports from the Tree Board and the Library, covering quarterly and annual activities, are also scheduled for discussion.
Additionally, the council will hear a public update from PeopleService Inc., the city’s utility management provider, and consider requests for proposals to upgrade SCADA systems for both the city’s wastewater and water departments. An emergency ordinance will allow for the contracting and repair of the South Lift Station pumps, with a related claim of $106,150 for the necessary repairs. Planning and zoning matters will also be addressed, including vacating a portion of a roadway in Bairn’s Subdivision and approving the final plat for the AlVarado Replat in the same subdivision.
Council members will provide reports on their committee assignments, including the Board of Health, Ogallala Community Hospital and Health Foundation, the Library Board, YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, Keith County Area Development, and West Central Nebraska Development District. The meeting will conclude with updates from the city attorney, city manager, and council members, and may include a closed session if needed under Nebraska law.
