North Platte, Neb., August 6, 2024 - Great Plains Health is proud to highlight its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program, with the next cohort set to begin this January. This innovative program, offered in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Medical Center through Kearney (NMC), continues to provide a fast-track option for individuals looking to transition into the nursing field.
“Our state faces a significant need for more nurses,” said Ivan Mitchell, CEO of Great Plains Health. There are numerous initiatives across Nebraska to train future healthcare professionals, and we are proud to continue the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. This ongoing program is a vital step in encouraging nursing careers and ensuring we have the skilled nurses needed to provide exceptional care in our community.”
The ABSN program is designed for those who already hold a bachelor's degree in another field and are seeking a career change to nursing. This accelerated program allows students to earn their BSN in a condensed timeframe, combining intensive coursework with hands-on clinical experience at Great Plains Health.
Tina Pate, Chief Nursing Officer at Great Plains Health, emphasizes the program's value: " The ABSN program provides an excellent opportunity for those looking to switch careers. We appreciate the diverse perspectives these students bring, and our team is committed to providing the support and resources they need to succeed in this challenging and rewarding field. "
The nursing field is experiencing rapid growth, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicting an increase of more than 438,000 new RN jobs by 2026. UNMC nursing graduates are in high demand among employers throughout Nebraska, with BSN graduates having a competitive edge.
Prospective students interested in the program must submit their applications by November 15 for the January intake. For questions about the admission process, interested individuals can contact Samantha Clark at [email protected] or call 308-568-7290.
