(McCook, Neb.) — Weather permitting, a milling and chip seal project will begin on or about Aug. 15 on N-61, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
Chip seal is an application of an asphalt binder to a roadway surface followed by an aggregate. Cold milling is a process of removing deteriorated asphalt in preparation of placing a chip seal to improve the roadway surface and drivability.
State maintenance forces will be performing a milling and chip seal project from reference post 18.4 to reference post 26.9, starting 1.2 miles south of Enders Dam working south 8.5 miles. Anticipated completion is 10 days. Traffic will be maintained with a pilot car and flaggers
