North Platte, Ne - Joe Bellm, CEO and promoter of BST announced Monday afternoon that the double -header opening weekend dirt races that were planned for this Friday & Saturday have been postponed due to forecasted temperatures in the 40's this weekend.
It was going to be an epic weekend of Sprint Cars with former World of Outlaws champ Sammy Swindell planning to be in North Platte for the weekend. Bellm said "we're postponing this because of the fan experiance". He said "no fans want to sit out in the cold and watch cars go in circles when its likely colder than 40's being that we race at night".
The double header will likely be postponed until May 17 & 18, also a Friday/Saturday and the Northern & Southern Plains ASCS Sprint cars are open that weekend and Bellm believes it may be a better weekend for racing anyway. Stay tuned to Eagle Radio for dates.
The next racing at Lincoln County Raceway will be on May 4th in North Platte which will be "Nascar Night". Former Nascar drivers Kenny Wallace and Kenny Schrader are scheduled to race that night in North Platte. They're on the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Accross America which will be making a stop in North Platte that night. (See STORY)
