Ogallala City Council to Consider City Manager Resignation, Asphalt Overlay Plans

Ogallala, Ne— The Ogallala City Council will meet in regular session Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 411 East Second Street, with infrastructure, city leadership and community updates on the agenda.

Council members are scheduled to consider approval of the consent agenda, including minutes from the April 14 regular meeting and claims.

During the public forum, council members will hear updates from PeopleService Inc. and the YMCA. Discussion is also scheduled regarding sidewalk repairs at Eighth and Spruce related to reported public use damage, with Matt Riley expected to address the council.

A major item under department recommendations is the resignation of City Manager Kevin Wilkins, which appears on the administration agenda.

The council will also consider plans, specifications and advertising dates for the 2026 Asphalt Overlay Project. Proposed work includes improvements on West Eighth Street from West A to Spruce, and West C Street from West Fifth to West 10th Street.

The Ogallala Tree Board is also slated to provide its quarterly report.

Project updates are expected during the city manager’s report.

Council members will also hear board and committee reports from members covering organizations including the Board of Health, Ogallala Community Hospital and Health Foundation, Keith County Area Development, YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, West Central Nebraska Joint Housing Authority, Library Board, West Central Nebraska Development District, Keep Keith County Beautiful and Western Resources Group.

The meeting agenda does not list any public hearings.
