North Platte Post/Sandhills Post/Panhandle Post

The National Weather Service in North Platte (NWS) has expanded the Red Warning Effect to Southwest Nebraska and parts of North Central Nebraska. Much of the listening area has been affect since late last week. The effect expires this evening at 8:00pm (MT)/9:00pm (CT).

The NWS states any fire started can quickly spread with a wind gust and can be difficult to control. Temperatures for the coverage area range anywhere from the 60s to the near 80s. Winds will be strongest in Western Sandhills and Northern Nebraska. Check your local area to see if a fire ban is in effect before making any types of controlled fires.
