North Platte Post
North Platte, Neb. - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) announced on Monday a new staff member has joined the team. Joining the team is Jax, who is the Lincoln County Sheriff's Crisis Canine in training.
The LCSO says Jax, and his handler Corporal Season Trevino have partnered with Crisis Canines of the Midlands, a non-profit group from Colfax, Iowa. The Crisis Canines of the Midlands trains dogs and handlers on how to provide support after a crisis or natural disaster.
Over the next year, Corporal Trevino and Jax will take part in training in areas such as peer support, critical incident stress management, and trauma response on multiple levels.
LCSO states that while the pair is not in training, the K9 Team will be providing victim support, assisting with criminal investigation interviews, and working with community outreach programs within Lincoln County.
