June 5, 2026 (McCook, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin June 15 on U.S. Highway 6 (US-6), from reference post 24.1 to reference post 25.6, and on Nebraska Highway 61 (N-61), from&nbsp;reference post 40.2 to reference post 53.6, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Western Engineering Company, Inc., of Harlan, Iowa, is the contractor for this project. Work includes&nbsp;milling, asphalt overlay, curb repair and seeding. Traffic will be maintained with lane restrictions and a pilot car with flaggers. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is Oct. 2026.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.
